Course details
A short hop from Galway’s city centre, Galway Racecourse welcomes the biggest crowd for any course in the country during the Galway Festival in late-August. Ladies’ Day on the Thursday is the big one, getting gates of up to 35,000. The masses come to see the Galway Hurdle on that day, while Wednesday is when the famed Galway Plate runs. This historic race is approaching 150 years old.
